Wedding Tip #3 – Be Aware of the Weather

Oh, I heard Vegas was hot, but I didn’t realize it was this hot.
Yes, I’ve heard that one before. Las Vegas is a desert and if it says it may be 115 degrees outside, it will be 115 degrees outside. Be aware. We get a lot of weddings in Vegas in May, June, July and it is so hot. I’ve had a groomsman faint; I’ve had literal large beads of sweat rolling down a poor groom’s face during his ceremony. December, January, and February are pretty dead for weddings, but the weather can be much nicer.
Can be?
Well, yes, even though we live in a desert, we still get rain, and it can really rain here—mattresses floating down the street rain. (Yes, I have actually seen a mattress floating down the street in Vegas.) It can get really windy and there can be dust storms.
So, if you are planning a destination wedding, think about researching the weather. I’ve had changes happen for weddings for all of the above mentioned: heat, rain and wind. As much as we would love to, we cannot change, nor control the weather.
If you are worried about heat, but still want photos outside, consider getting married inside and going outside afterwards. Or be prepared to be in the heat.
More tips about heat management will be coming up in the following weeks as we roll into summer.
